Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Jay Cannon

Is home schooling the "Classroom of the Future?" Is it a viable educational alternative? Must it match the scope and sequence of public school training to be effective? What are the educational and employment prospects for home-educated graduates? How do parents graduate their children from high school? Can parents really do this successfully? The questions multiply--and there are many answers!

The mission of Education PLUS is to highlight the tutorial advantages of the home education model of teaching -- helping parents to understand and implement programs which will allow the full development of their children's gifts, talents, personalities, and ultimately their life purpose. To that end we have prepared training seminars, planning and record keeping tools, motivational materials, and translation of the unique achievements of the tutorial approach into "educationese."

Inge Cannon's professional background includes fifteen years of elementary and high school teaching experience, seven years as principal of a private school and day care center, eight years of intensive work in curriculum development, and five years of federal lobbying work on behalf of home educators. She has also directed evaluation programs and taught courses in educational assessment at the college and graduate school level.

Education leaders highly endorse Mrs. Cannon's work. Bill Gothard, Founder of the Advanced Training Institute of America program, cites Inge Cannon as having "keen insight into the philosophical battlefields within education" and being "very articulate in explaining them to laymen." Michael Farris, President of the Home School Legal Defense Association, adds "Inge Cannon has insights--and the ability to communicate those insights--which will help every home school family strive for excellence in raising their children."

Classroom teachers along with parents whose children are enrolled in traditional schools will also benefit from hearing the "myths, hearsay, and educational shibboleths challenged," according to Dr. George Youstra, President Emeritus of Clearwater Christian College in Florida.

Dr. Ronald Jay Cannon is a former health care executive with an intense interest in studying the Scriptures. He has added to his professional experience several conservative seminary degrees in theology and biblical studies and currently directs the outreach and development of Education PLUS as its founder and president. Together the Cannons have served the national home school community for more than 20 years.

One final word . . .

We take to heart very seriously the Apostle Paul's admonition to the Corinthians: "For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?" We are truly debtors--first and foremost to the grace of God, Who has chosen to redeem us by the blood of His dear Son and Who has promised to complete the good work He has begun in our lives until the day that the Lord Jesus returns for us. We are debtors as well to the family of God--those believers who have loved and prayed for us and invested themselves in our lives and those who have blessed us by the testimony of their ministries and/or their writings. We are grateful for our heritage and humbled by our limited understanding of the breadth and depth of God's love throughout our experiences.

Whatever good is here belongs to our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, and we give thanks to God the Father by Him. The Holy Spirit is truly a patient teacher. Whatever errors are here--and we know you'll find some--belong to us. We long for the day when we shall be like Him, for we shall then see Him fully as He is. In the meantime, we pray you'll have the adventure of your lives with your children as you explore the unsearchable riches of Christ--the living Word--through the inexhaustible written Word of God.
